FAQ

My venue is 2 hrs. from where you are on the map.  Do you travel?

Yes, I am mobile!  I live in a rural area, skirting Clear Creek State Park, Cook Forest State Park & the Allegheny National Forest.  It's the home of the Forest Cathedral, which is a National Landmark.  I lovingly refer to it as:  Pennsyltuckey!  I recognize the need to be flexible about providing service to out-of-towners!  I'm approx. 1 hr. from the Burgh. & love to travel.  I don't view it as a chore & driving in the city doesn't scare me!  Your flowers are transported in an air-conditioned vehicle to ensure their freshness.

Am I ready to book a florist yet?

Have you nailed down the dress?  Did you book a venue yet?  If so, then yes; now it's time to find a florist.  The dress is a crucial puzzle piece to designing your personal flowers.  It's handy to have a pic of everyone's attire.  The texture, style, & color of dress says a lot about who you are!  Maybe your dress is the showcase for your whole wedding.  Designing a bouquet that may hide intricate needlework would be fruitless if I don't know what you're wearing.  The details of a venue is necessary to have also, it speaks to your vision you wish to convey.  *photo by:  Slicker Photography*

I only need personal flowers.  My cousin is making centerpieces, is that o.k.?

Yes!  I don't take offense to having someone else do any part of your wedding flowers.  Maybe you only need centerpieces and not personal flowers, whatever.  Most florists would shun this idea, but it's your wedding & your budget.  If you think DIY can help you save money then do so.  It takes a ton of skill to nail colors down, & if it's a risk you want to take then I won't talk you out of it.  What I cannot do is design with flowers that Aunt Violet got you from Sam's club!    I will not use someone else's flowers/foliage for my designs.

I already have containers I found @ a yard sale.  Will you use them?

Yes, I will.  I'm a big fan of DIY methods for any endeavor.  Containers can add up quickly esp. if you have a large amt. of guest tables.  Long story short:  I cannot store items for your wedding that you don't receive from me.  I cannot clean your containers.   If they get broken/lost/chipped/scratched/misplaced; what have you, I'm not responsible for them.  If you need tear-down service, I cannot pack them for you.  Often your venue can store & pack them for you. Even if they charge extra to do it, sometimes having peace of mind is worth the cost.

Can you construct my tablescape?

Sure!  A bride's tablescape is super important!  Centerpieces pull your theme together for your reception.  Candles, favors, lanterns; etc... adds excitement to guest tables.  This, however takes time, hovering over several tables.  If you need this service it will be billed separate from your wedding flower set-up.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes, to hold your date,  I require a $200.00 non-refundable deposit.  This would be after mutually deciding that we will mesh well together after meeting one-on-one, in person and have good chemistry.

Are consultations free?

Yes!  I believe charging for an initial consult. is ridiculous, as is charging for a toss bouquet!  I feel strongly that having open discussions about what your vision is underestimated nowadays.  I remember getting married & all the decisions involved.  I had a binder w/ all my dreams in.  I recall getting a huff when I was dealing with a venue owner who told me I don't need all that 'stuff'!'  I was so torqued over it & I will never do that to somebody & make them feel like their input wasn't what I need to hear.  Being available any time of day over multiple mediums of communication is what I strive for.  Sadly, the wedding industry as a whole takes on this notorious attitude of fees upon fees, add-ons, & upsells.  I do not share this attitude or philosophy.  It is your wedding & I'd treat it as if it were my own based on our collaborative & cooperative understanding in relation to our time spent together.

I want American grown Flowers, can you find them?

Sourcing domestically grown materials has become much easier of late.  Typically 80-90% of flowers are imported.  Eco-conscious mindsets make it possible today to offer flowers & foliage from the U.S.A.  Today the cut flower industry is making a comeback & is one of the fastest growing segments of the U.S. floral market.  Whether you're seeking GMO-free, organic, grown in PA, sustainable growers, sourcing what you desire is part of why I went into business. I am a member of Slow Flowers which "promotes the support & purchase of American grown flowers in the United States." https://www.slowflowers.com  Cut-flowers sometimes can even be found in my own garden (depending on the deer!)

I know nothing about flower names.  I kill houseplants with no shame.  Can you help me decipher what's in my Pinterest board?  I just know when I see it!

Horticulture is what I live and breathe.  You should not feel that you need to know every single flower out there on Instagram!  I do not wish to provide any sort of intimidation when it comes to this.  New cultivars & varieties come around & it is hard to keep track of it all!  There's much to know & share in the plant kingdom.  Choosing cake flowers should not be left to a novice.  I offer great care in selecting florals.  If someone has allergies, for instance, I would not choose a flower that is fragrant.

What led you to be a wedding florist?

I used to watch my Gram tend to her miniature roses methodically.  She was the eldest of 10 kids who grew up amidst the Great Depression who chewed tobacco & eloped. She was rough & tumble!  Playing in my turtle sandbox, she grew tiger lillies beside it.  I watched them grow tall as a toddler.  My grandmother made sure I went off to college, fully paid.  I chose Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport, PA & received 2 associates degrees. Hated funeral courses excelled in & loved wedding ones! Christine Fink who was my professor,  had a cooler full of awesome goodies! Plants don't talk back so they were easy to love!  My experience with my own wedding made me realize that it had to be easier finding flowers, finding a florist who would order me in some & in general just having access to them.  This was before Amazon was a household name, btw!  Slowly I went, then I had my Son.  Time opened up & led me to just do weddings-shirking the status quo & making folks happy!  *photo by:  Delbert, Punxsy PA*
